Dokolo, Uganda | Shock has engulfed Dokolo Central Police Station after a police officer was found dead in his room at the police barracks.
The deceased, identified as Detective Police Constable Galandi Faiso, is reported to have died on Thursday night.
Dokolo District Police Commander (DPC), SP Patience Baganzi, confirmed the incident, saying the body was discovered on Friday at around midday after the officer failed to report for duty.
According to Baganzi, colleagues grew concerned when repeated attempts to reach him on the phone went unanswered. This prompted them to check on him at his residence within the barracks.
She said the officers found his door locked from the inside and were forced to break it open, only to discover him lying dead in the room.
By press time, the body had been taken to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem to establish the exact cause of death.
Police have not yet released further details as investigations continue.
