Lira City, Uganda — A horrific act of violence unfolded in Lira City on the night of November 8, 2024, when 32-year-old George Aliro alias “Aliro Machete” was brutally murdered, allegedly over a love triangle.

The murder, which has left the local community reeling, is being linked to an extramarital affair involving Aliro, a butcher from Kakoge “A” cell, and Daisy Akullo, a married woman from the same area.

The chilling incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 12:20 AM, in Owiti Cell, Amuca Ward.

According to police reports, George Aliro had reportedly contacted Daisy Akullo, leading to a confrontation with her husband, Otim Bazil, a 29-year-old resident of Owiti cell.

What began as an argument escalated quickly into violence, resulting in Aliro being fatally stabbed.

A team of investigators, led by the Division CID Officer from Lira City West Division Police Station, rushed to the scene shortly after the incident.

They were joined by the Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) and the homicide team to examine the crime scene, document evidence, and draw a sketch map.

A panga, believed to be the weapon used in the murder, was recovered and has been sent for forensic analysis.

The police have launched an extensive investigation into the motive behind the killing, with reports suggesting that Daisy Akullo, who is allegedly pregnant with Aliro’s child, may have been a key factor.

While Akullo’s husband, Otim Bazil, is believed to be the prime suspect, he remains at large.

Daisy Akullo, along with another man who claims to be her brother, is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.

The murder has deeply shaken the local community, and law enforcement is working swiftly to uncover the full details of this tragic event.

“We urge Otim Bazil to report to the nearest police station to help with the investigation and face any charges that may follow,” he added.

As the investigation progresses, the community is left to grapple with the devastating loss of George Aliro, while questions surrounding jealousy, betrayal, and the consequences of extramarital affairs continue to hang in the air.

Authorities have vowed to bring justice to the victim’s family and ensure that the perpetrator is held accountable for this senseless crime.

  1. If someone else have sexually affairs with your wife to the extent of making her pregnant, that is when you will experience what OTIM went through.

Besides confirming such act of violence killing.
Police should sensitize people especially men on what to do if they notice such an act if it’s law binded.

  2. Sometimes our cultural laws seem not to favor people that goes through the experience Mr Otim went through. How such matter is solved i mean a case where you get your married wife under another man. The punishment is not always worth the emotional pain you as a man might have gone through.
I kindly request the higher authority to also build capacity of sustaining such stress amicably in men through rampant sensitization and correction on some loopholes here and there especially on punishments levied on people found of riding other men’s wives. That is one of the causes of death, i suggest people found sleeping with their fellow men’s married women should be charged of attempted murder because that act easily cause murder like such scenario.
