Dokolo, Uganda | Adeknino Seed Secondary School has attained a significant institutional milestone after receiving approval from the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) to operate as an independent examination centre for Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) candidates.
The school has been assigned Centre Number U4675, with capacity to host up to 120 candidates, eliminating the need for learners to sit national examinations at external centres.
The achievement follows a detailed UNEB verification process that assessed the school’s infrastructure, security systems, staffing levels, records management and overall capacity to conduct national examinations.
Speaking to Dokolo FM, headteacher Susan Kia said the accreditation is a major vote of confidence in the school’s standards and readiness to deliver quality education services.
She noted that candidates will now benefit from sitting examinations in a familiar environment, while parents will be relieved of the costs associated with transporting and facilitating learners at distant examination centres.
Deputy headteacher for academics Ambrose Ogwal said the development is expected to enhance the school’s academic profile and attract more learners from Dokolo and neighbouring districts.
Students who spoke to Dokolo FM described the new examination centre status as a morale booster that will increase confidence and improve preparation ahead of the 2026 UCE examinations.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the accreditation, saying it strengthens the school’s credibility and demonstrates the growing success of government-funded seed secondary schools in expanding access to quality education.
Currently, Adeknino Seed Secondary School has an enrolment of about 350 students and 46 teachers on the government payroll. The new UNEB status is expected to position the institution as a key education hub in Dokolo District and the wider Lango sub-region.
