Kampala, Uganda – Makerere University Business School (MUBS) on April 4, 2025 hosted its annual Cultural Gala at the Nakawa-based main campus, drawing thousands of students, staff, and invited guests for a vibrant showcase of Uganda’s ethnic diversity.

Held under the theme “Rooted in Tradition and Growing Towards Sustainability,” the event celebrated cultural identity through traditional music, dance, attire, and drama.
The gala featured over 40 tribal groups, each presenting unique performances that reflected their heritage.
The top 10 cultural showcases—ranked based on creativity, authenticity, and audience impact—were:
1. Acholi
2. Langi
3. Bakiga
4. Karamojong
5. Buganda
6. South Sudanese
7. Iteso
8. Bamasaba
9. Banyoro
10. Great Arua
Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda sponsored the event, offering free drinks and interactive experience zones.
Their support elevated the celebration with additional attractions and national music stars Vinka and Fik Fameica, who energized the crowd with live performances.
MUBS Guild President Moses Amanya commended the event’s role in promoting national unity.
“This gala shows that our cultural differences are a source of strength. As students preparing to engage globally, it’s vital we uphold our roots.”
Coca-Cola’s Country Trade and Marketing Manager, Macklean Kukundakwe, praised the students’ creativity.
“We are proud to be part of this initiative that promotes heritage and connects communities.”
The gala also featured cultural exhibitions, traditional cuisines, and fashion parades, reinforcing the importance of preserving Uganda’s diverse cultures amidst modernization.
The 2025 MUBS Cultural Gala ended with a strong message: cultural heritage is not only a source of identity but also a foundation for sustainable development in an increasingly globalized society.
