OTUKE DISTRICT:

In a move aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and improving food security in the Otuke East County, MP Julius Bua Acon distributed a significant number of agricultural tools to locals in Ogwete Sub-county.

A total of 1700 brand new hoes were handed over to the locals, with the remaining 450 hoes expected to arrive by the end of the month. The recipients expressed their gratitude for the MP’s initiative, which is expected to not only increase agricultural output in the region, but also provide a much-needed boost to the local economy.

The event was well-attended by local officials, community leaders, and beneficiaries who hailed the MP’s efforts as a step in the right direction towards improving the livelihoods of the people.

Commenting on the distribution, MP Acon emphasized the importance of agriculture to the community and noted that his government is committed to providing support to farmers and other agricultural stakeholders in the region. “Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, and we must do everything in our power to ensure that our farmers have the necessary tools and resources to produce food for our nation,” he said.

Locals expressed their delight at the distribution, which they described as a “timely intervention.” Mr. Obonyo, a farmer from Ogwete, said, “The distribution of these hoes is a positive step that will go a long way in improving our farming activities. It will also help us to reduce the cost of labor and boost our incomes.”

The distribution of the hoes is part of a larger initiative by the government to revitalize the agricultural sector and improve food security in the country. Agriculture accounts for over 40% of Uganda’s GDP and provides employment for the majority of the population.
