A total of 222 candidates at Bata Secondary School in Bata Town Council, Dokolo District, have been urged to remain focused, disciplined and committed to their studies as they prepare for the 2026 final examinations.
The candidates, comprising 170 Senior Four and 52 Senior Six students, received the message during a dedication prayer held at the school on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Presiding over the ceremony, Rev. Vincent Okullo of Bata Church of Uganda encouraged the candidates not to relax in their studies, warning them against engaging in behaviours that could jeopardise their chances of sitting for the examinations.
Quoting Luke 1:1, Rev. Okullo urged the candidates to be courageous and confident in what they had studied, saying thorough preparation would be key to achieving good results.
He also appealed to parents to avoid placing unnecessary burdens on their children during the examination period, saying additional family-related pressures could distract them from concentrating on their studies.
The school’s Headteacher, Mr. Ogwal Denis, expressed confidence in the candidates’ performance, saying teachers had worked tirelessly to cover the entire syllabus and adequately prepare them for the examinations.
He commended the teaching staff for their commitment and urged parents to pay school fees on time and provide the necessary support to their children throughout the examination period.
Edato Charles, Chairperson of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), called on parents to continue investing in their children’s education, assuring them that the school leadership was not currently planning to introduce changes to school fees encouraging parents to meet their school obligations promptly.
Meanwhile, Caroline Abeja, Chairperson of the School Board, said the administration had great confidence in the candidates and urged them to remain focused as they approached their examinations advising them to put aside issues that could interfere with their concentration during the examination period.
Representing the Senior Four and Senior Six class teachers, Mr. Augustine Oyuru said the candidates had been adequately prepared and expressed optimism about their performance.
He encouraged them to continue reading hard and avoid giving up on their studies as they enter the final stage of their preparation.
Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Senior Four’s Rebecca Apio and Senior Six’s Odit Emmanuel thanked their parents for standing firmly behind them despite the challenges they face at home.
They assured their parents and teachers that they were determined to produce outstanding results, crediting their teachers for nurturing and preparing them well.
Bata Secondary School currently has an enrolment of 798 students.
