Alebtong, Uganda – In a grand and vibrant ceremony at Angoltok, Abako Subcounty on March 9, 2025, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (D/RDC) of Alebtong, Mathias Lutwama, lauded Government Chief Whip Hon. Hamson Obua for his relentless efforts in fulfilling the NRM government’s manifesto through strategic lobbying and infrastructural development.

The occasion marked the official launch of the UGX 100 million construction of Ebong Bridge, a crucial infrastructure that will significantly boost connectivity and ease transportation for residents of Abako, Amugu, and neighboring sub-counties.

Speaking at the event, Lutwama underscored the critical role of legislators in ensuring tangible development beyond their legislative and oversight duties.

“Beyond the equivocation of legislation and oversight, a Member of Parliament should exercise strategic lobbying for infrastructural services in their community. I thank the Government Chief Whip, Hamson Obua, for functionally keeping in mind the interests of the people day and night,” Lutwama remarked to thunderous applause from the gathering.

He further elaborated on the bridge’s impact, noting that its completion would address long-standing challenges in market transportation, particularly for farmers and traders who have struggled with poor road networks.

“This bridge, once completed, will serve as a lifeline for our communities, linking Abako, Amugu, and other sub-counties that have long faced difficulties in transporting their goods to markets,” Lutwama stated.

The launch of the project was presided over by Hon. Hamson Obua, whose commitment to infrastructural development in Alebtong and beyond continues to win public admiration.

The event was graced by LCV Chairperson D.K. Odongo, Assistant RDCs Okello Jimmy and Ongom Lameck, LCIII Chairpersons, Senior Assistant Secretaries, Honorable Councillors, and an overwhelming number of residents from Abako Subcounty, Amugu Town Council, and Amugu Subcounty.

Hon. Obua reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring the people of Alebtong receive their fair share of government programs and infrastructure, emphasizing that the NRM government remains committed to bridging the development gap across Uganda.

The launch of the Ebong Bridge construction signals a new dawn for the region, promising improved accessibility, economic growth, and enhanced social services.
