FUFA Big League: Blacks Power FC Defeats Gaddafi FC 2-1 in Thrilling Encounter at Akii Bua Stadium

Lira City, Uganda – Blacks Power FC continued their impressive home form with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over league leaders Gaddafi FC in a top-of-the-table clash played at Akii Bua Stadium.

The match, which was played today 12 January 2025, kicked off at 4:00 PM, drew hundreds of enthusiastic fans eager to witness their home team in action.

Blacks Power FC wasted no time asserting their dominance as Oonyu Paul struck early in the 4th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Gaddafi to give the hosts an early lead.

Gaddafi responded aggressively and found their equalizer in the 22th minute through Kakaire, whose powerful strike from close range left the Blacks Power goalkeeper with no chance.

The tension-filled first half ended 1-1, setting the stage for a pulsating second half. Blacks Power returned from the break with renewed vigor, and their persistence paid off at 77th minute when Okello Ivan scored the decisive goal.

Despite Gaddafi’s late efforts to salvage a point, Blacks Power’s solid defense held firm until the final whistle.

With this win, Blacks Power FC not only extended their unbeaten home record but also moved level on points with Gaddafi FC at the top of the table.

Both teams now have 29 points from 13 matches, each boasting 9 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses. However, Gaddafi retains the top spot due to a superior goal difference.

Blacks Power FC head coach Bob Obira was full of praise for his team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of maintaining momentum in the race for promotion.
