Amuria, Uganda | Police in Amuria District have arrested a Local Council One (LC1) chairperson and his nephew in connection with the alleged murder of the chairperson’s 27-year-old son following a domestic dispute.

The suspects have been identified as Okiring Naboth, 50, LC1 chairperson of Ocal Village in Ocal Parish, Abarilela Sub-county, and his nephew Alejat Moses. The two are accused of murdering Okiring Francis, 27.

According to police, the incident occurred on February 22, 2026, at about 3:00pm in Ocal Village after a domestic disagreement reportedly escalated into violence.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the altercation turned fatal when the deceased was allegedly hacked during the confrontation involving his father and cousin.

The victim was rushed to Amuria General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, ACP Haji Ibrahim Saiga, confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects are currently being held at Amuria Central Police Station pending further investigations.

“The case file has been submitted to the Resident State Attorney for further management,” ACP Saiga said.

Police condemned the incident and called on communities to embrace peaceful mechanisms for resolving family disputes.

“We strongly condemn acts of domestic violence and encourage community members to engage local leaders and family elders in conflict mediation instead of resorting to violence,” he added.
