Museveni Empowers Lango Journalists with 100 Million and a Bus Pledge

Otuke, Uganda – President Yoweri Museveni, on the third day of his Presidential Development Model (PDM) tour in Lango Sub-region, made a significant pledge to support local journalists.

During a meeting with media representatives from across the region, he announced a donation of 100 million shillings to support the Lango Journalists SACCO.

In addition, President Museveni pledged to provide a bus to ease the journalists’ transportation challenges, enabling them to carry out their work more effectively.

The meeting, which took place at Baralegi, was part of a series of engagements the President held with various stakeholders during his tour.

In his remarks, he encouraged the journalists to utilize their platforms to promote wealth creation and amplify the government’s efforts to combat poverty.

The President also visited Lango Presidential Industrial Skilling Hub, where he expressed satisfaction with the positive response from parents and the community towards the free skills training initiative.

He revealed plans to expand the curriculum to include motor mechanics, plumbing and electrical installation, ensuring a wider base of skills for the youth in the region.

Later, President Museveni officially opened the Presidential Skilling Hub at Lira University and continued his tour in Alebtong District, where he commended the region for its progress, particularly in electricity provision.

The President highlighted the importance of continued infrastructure development, even as the government remains focused on wealth creation and securing peace in the region.

In his address, the President also praised the role of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) in disarming the Karamojong, leading to peace and stability in Lango, Acholi and Teso sub-regions.

This stability, he emphasized, is a foundation for continued economic and social development.
