Kampala, Uganda — In a bold move to uphold discipline and integrity in Ugandan football, the FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) has taken decisive action against NEC FC Head Coach, Hussein Mbalangu, and Express FC, following serious breaches of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code.
Coach Hussein Mbalangu, known for his passionate touchline presence, has been slapped with a two-match suspended sanction after making inflammatory remarks during the post-match media interview on April 10, 2025, following the StarTimes Uganda Premier League clash between NEC FC and Kitara FC.
The FDP found that Mbalangu’s comments violated Article 13 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, which deals with conduct deemed harmful to the image of the game. The suspended ban will be activated should he engage in similar misconduct in the future.
In addition to the warning, Mbalangu has been fined UGX 1,000,000, payable immediately.
In a separate ruling, Express FC has been sanctioned for acts of hooliganism during their high-stakes encounter with Vipers SC on April 11, 2025, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
According to the FDP, Express FC supporters were involved in violent conduct, including throwing bottles at match officials—a serious offense under Article 14(11) of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code.
As a result, FUFA has imposed a suspended two-point and two-goal deduction, which will come into force if similar misconduct is repeated. Express FC has also been fined UGX 1,000,000, with payment required within 14 days, and issued a formal warning.
These rulings underscore FUFA’s firm stance on enforcing discipline and protecting the integrity of the league, as it continues to grow in stature and professionalism.
