Oyam, Uganda – The Mysterious disappearance of Ojok Oscar, a close aide to political activist Queen Dorothy Amolo, has sparked widespread concern and speculation.
Witnesses report that on the morning of February 25, 2025, Oscar was taken from his residence by men dressed in military uniforms. He was handcuffed, placed in a vehicle, and driven towards Kampala.
Since then, there has been no official statement from authorities, leaving many questioning whether his disappearance was a lawful arrest or a politically motivated abduction.
Queen Dorothy Amolo, a vocal political figure in Oyam, has expressed deep concern over the circumstances of her brother’s disappearance.
In a statement released earlier today, she confirmed that she has been actively seeking answers before making any conclusions.
“My primary concern is to determine whether he was taken in connection with a legitimate legal matter or if this is politically motivated—given my strong political stance over the past decade, especially in the last five years.”
Her concerns are not without merit. Amolo has long been a formidable political force in Oyam, frequently challenging powerful figures.
Over the years, she has faced threats, intimidation, and attempts to silence her. Many now fear that Oscar’s disappearance could be another calculated move to weaken her influence.
The disappearance of Oscar has been further complicated by conflicting reports from those close to him.
His brother, Jerome Ongom, revealed that Oscar had called him after the incident, asking him to remove a Facebook post that claimed he had been abducted.
Additionally, Daniel, a cousin who witnessed the arrest, stated that Oscar explicitly told him not to inform anyone about what had happened.
These revelations have raised serious questions:
• If Oscar was lawfully arrested, why was he taken in such secrecy?
• Why has there been no official communication about his detention?
• Why did he instruct those close to him to remain silent?
• Was he coerced into downplaying his disappearance, or is there more to the story?
These contradictions have fueled uncertainty, making it difficult to determine whether Oscar’s situation is a legal matter he prefers to handle privately or a case of enforced disappearance.
Despite the growing outcry, security agencies have remained tight-lipped about Oscar’s whereabouts.
His friends, family, and political allies have called upon authorities to clarify whether he is in custody and, if so, under what charges.
The failure to provide this information only deepens fears that he may be the latest victim of a politically motivated crackdown.
Amolo has called for transparency and the immediate release of information regarding her brother’s detention.
“I urge the relevant authorities to provide clear information on Oscar’s whereabouts and the reasons for his detention. I also call on all concerned parties to ensure his safety and uphold his fundamental rights.”
Oscar’s case is not an isolated incident. Uganda has seen an alarming trend of political activists, journalists, and opposition figures being detained under mysterious circumstances.
In recent years, human rights organizations have documented cases of enforced disappearances allegedly carried out by security agencies.
As pressure mounts, all eyes are now on security agencies to provide answers. If Oscar was lawfully arrested, authorities must disclose his location and charges. If not, urgent action is needed to secure his release.
For now, uncertainty looms. His family, friends, and political allies wait anxiously, hoping that he will be found safe.
The next few days will be critical in determining whether this is a routine legal matter or a case of political suppression.
One thing is clear—silence is not an option. The truth must come to light.
