The Prisons Queens—led by PRRO David Moses Okiring as Head of Delegation-are determined to break their streak of heartbreaks after finishing runners-up to NIC in both 2023 (Nairobi) and 2024 (Dar Es Salaam).

“…This time, it’s about redemption…,” said Head Coach Elnouredine Kato Hassan. “…We’ve retooled our game, and the team is sharper, faster, and hungrier than ever…”

The squad features a mix of veterans and rising stars. Captain Christine Kango Namulumba leads a formidable lineup including Sylvia Nanyonga, Tausi Mumena, Stella Nanfuka, and Saidah Bulage.

Three teenage debutants-Khadala Nashim, Sharon Pita, and Joan Reykoboth-add youthful energy and signal a bright future for the club.

Backing the team are ASP Florence Amono as Team Manager, Beatrice Rwegyema as Team Doctor, Assistant Coach Lillian Ajio (also a player), and Fred Akena as Media Officer.

This year’s championship features 12 women’s teams, split into two groups:

  • From Uganda: Prisons, NIC, KCCA
  • From Zanzibar: Zimamoto, Mafunzo, JKU, KVZ
  • From Tanzania: Umiajji, Jesh Star, Magereza, Arusha JiJi
  • From Rwanda: APR

In the men’s category, four teams-WOB and Kampala University (Uganda), Zentalent (Zanzibar), and TZ Select (Tanzania)-will compete in a round-robin format.

The New Amaan Stadium, now boasting international-grade upgrades including floodlights and increased seating capacity, is set to be the crown jewel venue for East African netball this year.

The Prisons Queens open their campaign with confidence and a mission: to finally bring the regional title back home.
