Lira City – In a bold and decisive move, Geoffrey Etwop, a prominent businessman and influential figure in Lira, has declared that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is ready to reclaim lost political seats and secure a sweeping victory in the 2026 general elections. Etwop, a staunch NRM supporter, presented a detailed strategy for regaining control in key constituencies and reinforcing the party’s dominance in the Lango sub-region.
Etwop specifically targeted the Oyam North and Dokolo Woman MP seats, which were lost to opposition candidates in recent by-elections. He attributed the NRM’s losses to effective opposition propaganda and misinformation campaigns but stated that the party has adapted its strategies and is now prepared to counter opposition narratives with factual information and improved mobilization efforts.
Etwop also criticized NRM members who have defected to other political parties, labelling them as self-serving individuals driven by personal gain rather than genuine commitment to the party’s values. Despite these challenges, Etwop expressed unwavering support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, praising his leadership and the NRM government’s achievements.
Etwop’s address concluded with a call for unity and cooperation among NRM party leaders. He underscored the need for a united front to effectively combat opposition forces and secure electoral victories. “It is crucial for all NRM leaders to work together and support our mobilization efforts to ensure we defeat the opposition and continue to lead Uganda towards progress and development,” he urged.
Etwop emphasized the importance of reaching out directly to voters and addressing their concerns to restore confidence in the NRM. He highlighted the party’s achievements in improving infrastructure, including better road networks, health services, and educational facilities. Etwop also praised President Museveni’s leadership in fostering peace and stability in Uganda.
