Lira, Uganda – The territorial police in Lira City are currently investigating an alleged case of homosexuality involving a 10-year-old male minor.
The incident, which occurred on April 21, 2025, at approximately 2:00 PM, took place in Atego A Cell, Atego Ward, Lira City West Division.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Hashim Yasin, a teacher at Answar Mosque near Kitgum Road and a resident of the same area as the victim, allegedly invited the child and several friends to his home.
According to reports, Yasin led the group to his bedroom where they watched cartoons on his phone while he lay on a mattress.
It is further alleged that Yasin engaged in inappropriate behavior with the victim, which caused significant pain to the child.
The victim, a pupil at Ayago Primary School in P.3, reportedly felt severe discomfort upon returning home and informed his mother, who immediately reported the matter to the local LC I of Atego A Cell.
Following the report, the LC I contacted the victim’s father, who works in Patongo, Agago District.
Upon arriving in Lira City on April 22, 2025, the father filed an official report with the Lira City Central Police Station (CPS), leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Yasin is currently in police custody.
A case file has been opened, and statements have been taken from the victim, his family, and witnesses.
The victim has been issued a P3 form for medical examination, while the suspect has also been issued a P24 form for a medical check-up.
The scene of the alleged crime was visited by the Deputy OC CID, Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) and other detectives, as part of the ongoing investigation.
This is not the first case of this nature registered by Lira City CPS and authorities have expressed their commitment to ensuring that the investigation is thoroughly conducted.
Police spokesperson, SP PJ Okema, reaffirmed the force’s dedication to bringing the case to a conclusion in court.
