In a significant development for military cooperation between Qatar and Uganda, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), recently embarked on a high-profile visit to Qatar.

The visit, which came at the invitation of the Qatari Armed Forces, aims to strengthen military ties between the two nations and operationalize the 2017 military cooperation agreement signed between the UPDF and the Qatari Armed Forces.
During his time in Qatar, General Kainerugaba held meetings with key military figures, including leaders of the Military Police Forces and the National Service Academy of Qatar.
These discussions covered a range of topics, with both parties exploring potential areas for collaboration, such as training, intelligence sharing, and counter-terrorism efforts.
In addition to these meetings, General Kainerugaba is scheduled to meet with Dr. Khaled bin Muhammed Al-Attiyah, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs.
This high-level engagement will further solidify the growing relationship between Uganda and Qatar, as the two nations look to enhance their military partnership and promote regional stability.
Uganda has been actively pursuing stronger military ties with nations across the globe, and General Kainerugaba’s visit to Qatar is the latest in a series of diplomatic engagements aimed at achieving this goal.
As the UPDF’s Chief of Defence Forces continues to strengthen Uganda’s international alliances, the visit to Qatar serves as a clear indication of the country’s commitment to fostering military cooperation and promoting security on a global scale.
